How affiliate links are disclosed
Each affiliate link is disclosed at the point it appears in an article, not only on this page — look for a note near the product picks in any article that includes them. A link that earns a commission if you click it and complete a qualifying purchase says so in the surrounding text, consistent with FTC guidance on affiliate disclosure. A product is never recommended, or left out, because of whether an affiliate link is available for it; see "Editorial independence" below.
If this changes
If display advertising is added, ads will be presented as clearly distinct from editorial content, for example in a labeled banner, not woven into an article's actual recommendations.
If we join additional affiliate programs, this page will be updated to name them.
Editorial independence
Our Editorial Policy states that we don't accept payment to feature or recommend specific products. Earning a standard commission through an affiliate program doesn't change which ingredients or products an article discusses, that's still decided by what's relevant to the mechanism being explained, checked against research, the same as every claim on this site. If a specific product is ever recommended through an affiliate link, it's because it fits that same standard, not because the program pays well. If that ever isn't true for a specific piece of content, we consider that a failure of the site's basic premise, not a normal trade-off.
